MISILC conducts critical outreach and advocacy work to uplift Michigan’s disability community and create more inclusive communities.
The organization conducts a large-scale needs assessment, develops a State Plan for Independent Living, and implements the plan in conjunction with 15 Centers for Independent Living and countless nonprofit and government partners. MISILC contacted us to help them go from “Michigan’s Best-Kept Secret” to a household name among people with disabilities, their families, and caregivers.
MISILC wanted to infuse excitement into their brand with a positive, unifying campaign. Shine a Light helped them highlight key topics, accomplishments, advocates, and other positive stories coming out of the disability community. We created a Shine a Light splash page, monthly email newsletter, social calendar, print and digital ads, and more.
In the first 6 months, MISILC’s web traffic increased by 71%, social engagement grew by 25% (including a 100% increase in Instagram followers), and the organization achieved a 30% email open rate among its 15k+ subscribers.
In 2023, we’re doing even more, getting MI SILC on the airwaves with podcast appearances and hosting a large-scale inclusive art event to celebrate ADA Pride month in July.
